Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Patrick Morris of Suwanne, GA has verbally committed to swim for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington beginning in the fall of 2022. The backstroke specialist is a junior at Lambert High School and a year-round swimmer for Swim Atlanta.

I’m blessed to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at UNCW, I want to thank Coach Landon, my family, and my teammates for helping get to where I am today! Let’s go Seahawks!🦅🌊

In early February, Morris competed at the 2021 Georgia HS 7A State Championships. The Lambert High School junior touched 5th in the 200 IM and second in the 100 back, finishing 0.53 seconds behind Brockwood High School’s Nate Stoffle. He recorded personal best times in both races, earning a 2021 Summer Juniors cut in the 100 back and a 2021 Futures cut in the 200 IM.

Morris swam at the state championships freshman and sophomore year. As a freshman he was 57th in the 100 free and he made it back in the C-final of the 100 back, touching 18th. Last season, Morris touched 15th in finals of the 200 free and 9th in the 100 back.

Morris has qualified for the 2021 Summer Juniors in the 200 back, and he has additional Futures cuts in the 100 and 200-meter back and the 200-yard free.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 49.18
  • 200 back – 1:46.40
  • 200 IM – 1:52.23

The UNC-Wilmington men were the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association runners-up behind Towson University. Morris’ times would have placed him in the A-finals of the 100 and 200 back and the B-final of the 200 IM. He ranks as one of the team’s top backstrokers. During the 2020-2021 season, freshman Will Goldey posted the team’s fastest times in both back events, and was the Colonial conference champion in both events.

Morris will be joining Winter Juniors qualifier Robert Tars as a member of the Seahawks’ class of 2026.
